Comprehensive Oral Exam
A thorough examination of your teeth, gums, tongue and entire mouth is the essential foundation of your care at Oris. This allows us to evaluate your oral health thoroughly and check for early signs of cavities while screening for cancer and some forms of HPV. Along with low dose digital x-rays, the oral exam allows us to customize a comprehensive plan of care designed to optimize your oral health.
Cleaning and Polishing
Removing the build up of plaque, bacteria and tartar on your teeth and under your gums in order to prevent gum disease, bad breath and tooth or bone loss is a compelling reason to have a professional cleaning at least twice a year. Of course, if any of these conditions is detected, now is the time to begin the curing. Our hygienist uses a combination of ultrasonic devices, hand instruments and fine polishing tools to deliver that wonderful just-cleaned feeling. You may also have fluoride applied or sealants placed depending on your specific needs.
Extractions
Periodontal disease, tooth decay, impacted wisdom teeth and trauma are among the main reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted. Oris provides an ideal, calm and reassuring environment for this sometimes concerning situation. Following the procedure, you will be given important post-surgical instructions and a follow up call from the doctor to ensure the best outcome.
Root Canal Therapy
If a tooth nerve is infected or damaged, it can be cured with root canal therapy. Advanced measuring instruments and sure hands are required to achieve the best outcome of this delicate procedure. Oris has both in abundance.
Night Guards and Sports Guards
When teeth need protection, guards are the answer, whether you’re competing on the ice, court or field, or just grinding in your sleep. Night (occlusal) guards are the solution recommended for tooth protection when abnormal wear is evident, or to alleviate discomfort related to TMJ problems, clenching or grinding. Sports guards protect your teeth in the event of impact that can lead to tooth fracture or permanent nerve damage. Guards are a wise investment that can save you from pain and the need for much more costly repairs later.
Pediatric Care
A child’s first dental visit should be within six months of their first tooth and no later than their first birthday. Having a positive initial visit for your child is vital to their lifelong comfort with routine dental care. At Oris, we are very attentive to this important consideration when we check your infant’s tooth integrity and assess overall growth and development. As your child grows, their dental visits will include demonstrations of proper toothbrushing and flossing. Later, instructional talks about eating and drinking habits, ways to strengthen tooth enamel, and sports safety will be provided. When necessary sealant will be placed for decay prevention.
